Steven Briggs is the Chairman & CEO of Briggs Financial Inc., an independent financial firm providing planning, investment, and tax preparation services. With a career starting in the classroom as a band and math teacher, Steven went through the school of hard knocks when the Great Recession upended his career and highlighted just how bad his personal finances were. Never one to give up (or surrender), he fought back, paying off $42,000 of debt in just over two years while at the same time becoming a student of the game of personal finance. 

Debt free and with a huge chip on his shoulder toward the financial industry, he began helping friends and family with their finances and investments for fun until finally in 2016 deciding to earn his securities licenses and become a registered advisor. Dissatisfied with a short stint working with a traditional brokerage, Steven once again flipped the script by opening his own firm, Briggs Financial in 2018. 

Over the course of four years, Briggs Financial has grown from serving 15 households to now working for 135 households. Steven has also produced 36 "Briggs Blog" articles, 110 episodes of his podcast "Money is Personal," and given countless free webinars and talks to various non-profit and civic organizations. With a growing team, a fervent client base, and an irreverent attitude toward the financial industry, Steven forges ahead on a very different path focused on serving clients ethically and empowering them to make better financial decisions for themselves.
